Henna and Body Art
What is Henna?
For centuries, mehndi — the art of henna painting on the body — has been practiced in India, Africa, and the Middle East, where the henna plant is believed to bring love and good fortune, and to protect against evil. Mehndi is traditionally practiced for wedding ceremonies, important rites of passage, and in times of joyous celebration. In present day, teenagers love henna for the fun of having a tattoo, and parents love its impermanence.
How henna works
Henna paste is made from the crushed leaves of the henna plant and is applied to the skin. When removed several hours later, beautiful markings are left on the skin that fade naturally over one to three weeks. If you are looking for more temporary tattoos and artwork, see Jacqueline's glitter tattoos below.
How to care for Henna
The longer you keep the henna paste on, the longer your design will last and the darker it will be. We recommended 4-12 hours or overnight. Remove the paste with water. The design will continue to get darker for 48 hours and will slowly fade over the next 1-3 weeks.
Beware of counterfeit Henna!
We only use the highest quality, real and natural Henna. We do not use what is commonly referred to as "Black Henna." Please be warned that “Black Henna” Is NOT Real Henna, and is unhealthy. Be assured that we care about your good health and will use only genuine henna and natural ingredients.
Henna for your special celebration
Including Henna as part of your special event entertainment gives the occasion an immediate feeling of festivity along with the fun of being treated and pampered while among friends, family and/or co-workers.
Many brides-to-be have their designs applied in the company of the special people in their life as an alternate to a traditional "Bachelorette Party." Henna is a great way to celebrate with your friends at a 'spa day', 'girls night in', or other theme party.
Glitter tattoo body art
There's no need to be shy about getting a glitter tattoo – these are only temporary! Glitter tattoos are the new vanguard of body art, adding sparkle to any event. They dry in minutes, can be immersed in water and last three to ten days!
